Zen Master Scissors are handmade by Master Japanese craftsmen that use age old techniques and combine them with modern ergonomic design to create the very best hair scissors for today’s world of hairdressing.

Zen Master Scissors was created by Founder Sam Papas. originally from Australia, a highly successful award winning hair stylist and expert Design Cutter of over 30 years. He brings his experience as an owner of several salons, educator and had the honor of being named Creative Director of Hair for the Academy Awards (Oscars) Gala, Creative Director of Hair for Versace Southern Hemisphere and has worked on other large fashion houses such as Robert Cavilli, Michael Castello, and various photoshoots, film and TV – all of which demand the need for the best tools to support his craft.  

In his search for the best scissors while traveling the world, Sam met one of the finest Japanese craftsman, Master Ono. To be a master of any craft in Japan is to experience a reverance like no other for that craft… Over 50 years ago Master Ono started out as an apprentice forging Swords. To earn a living he sold scissors to hairdressers and barbers because being an apprentice in those days did not pay. One day he realized that he could make much better scissors than the ones he was selling and at the same time felt a passion for the hair industry… a combination which resulted in an excellence of a cutting tool that had never before been seen! Imagine, scissor blades that have he same cutting principals as that of a Samuri Sword! Forging hairdressing scissors and bringing that skill to our blades is something that really needs to be experienced… By combining Sam’s industry knowledge and Master Ono’s skill, they forged their own goal with a passion to deliver superior crafted scissor designs at an affordable price for all hair stylists and barbers around the world. Not only were superior blades a priority but the scissors would have to feel ultra comfortable and feel like an extension of a stylists own hands and are completely mindful of protecting the body. To enable and enhance a stylists creativity was at the top of the list when forging the blades. Together, Sam and master Ono have created what we believe to be the very best blade shapes in the world.
